I started translating in the late 1990s, and by the early 2000s I was translating full-time. Over the years, I have accumulated considerable experience in the fields of architecture and design and urban development and planning. I also enjoy and have experience translating energy (renewable and nonrenewable) and environmental-related content. Other areas of experience include marketing and market research, political science and economics, and general business. I have a BA in East Asian Studies, an interdisciplinary social science major, from UCLA and an MA from the University of Chicago. My master’s thesis for the latter was on Japan’s Information Disclosure Law. I passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Examination Level 1 in 1997. I lived and worked in Tokyo from 1994 to 2001. Having first learned Japanese as an adult, I continuously develop my Japanese language skills, with a special passion for reading.
